What is different about Selfrecruit?We only accept jobs from employers, so you dont have to compete against fake non existent or hyped up recruitment agencies "jobs" for good candidates.
What are your specialist sectors?We advertise positions across all industries; however, our original core sectors were Technology, Engineering, Construction, Retail, Hospitality, Travel & Leisure, Sales/Marketing, Office/Admin and Finance/Accountancy.
What types of employers advertise with Selfrecruit?
There are no limitations; small employers who have only one or a small number of positions to fill can use Selfrecruit. The large multi-sector employers who are recruiting for thousands of jobs per year will also find it useful to connect directly with potential recruits without incurring agency fees.
Is Selfrecruit part of a larger Group?Selfrecruit was created by a group of employers who identified a need but is now totally independent of any other company and managed by people just like any other employer who needs good quality candidates, quickly and at the lowest possible cost.
Information for employers
Will the Internet provide me with good quality candidates?The Internet is now the preferred choice for most job seekers, so you’ll have an excellent pool of talent from which to choose. Over 21m people in the UK alone now use the Internet to search for work and this is increasing every year. As Selfrecruit invests up to half it's income on marketing to attract the best candidates and they respond direct to employers there is a far better match with no agency enhanced job descriptions or tailored CVs to deal with.
Setting up an account and posting a vacancy; How much does the service cost?Advertise your job vacancy from less than a £1 a day and change your advertisement as often as you wish for free.
When I register how long is it before I can use my account?Your account will go live as soon as you register your details on Selfrecruit, whether or not you decide to purchase vacancies.
How do I sign-up with Selfrecruit?Register your details on-line and a job posting account will be created for you. Once your account is live you can simply login to your account to purchase vacancies, view your jobs or check your responses.
What guidance is available to help with posting vacancies?You can download a comprehensive user guide. This gives you step-by-step instructions on how to post a job and also tips on how to write a vacancy that will attract candidates.
When does my vacancy go live?Your job will go live as soon as you confirm your purchase and your credit card details have been approved. You’ll receive an invoice with all your purchase details to the email address you provided when you registered.
Will my contact details and web address appear in the ad?If you include the contact details and web address within the job description text and it will be visible to the candidates.
If I don’t know what category to place my job in, what do I do?Choose the category which most closely matches the Industry Sector the candidate will be working in. If you’re still unsure, search for similar jobs, as if you are a candidate, to see how other employers have advertised similar positions.
If I have filled my vacancy or no longer want to advertise my job within the monthly time period, can I use the remainder of the time to post another advert?Yes.
Managing your vacancies - How do I edit my job?- Select Manage jobs from the drop-down menu
- Click on the icon next to the job you want to amend in the Edit column.
- Once you have amended your job, click Preview job at the bottom of the screen to save changes.
Note that editing your job will not incur a cost.
How do I keep my job high up the search results?Jobs can be refreshed which means that they are given a new posted date and can appear higher up a candidates list of search results.
- Select Manage Jobs from the drop-down menu.
- Select the jobs you want to refresh by ticking the box beside the relevant jobs.
- Click the Refresh button at the bottom of the page.
To refresh all your jobs, click on Refresh All Jobs from the Manage Jobs drop-down.
How do I republish my job?Republishing a job enables it to go live for a further month.
- Select Manage Jobs from the drop-down menu,
- Select the jobs you want to republish by ticking the box beside the relevant jobs
- Click the Republish button at the bottom of the page.
- Select Manage Jobs from the drop-down menu.
- Select the jobs you want to delete by ticking the box beside the relevant jobs.
- Click the Delete button at the bottom of the page.
Please note that deleting your job prior to the job expiry date does not entitle you to be compensated or to receive any additional job postings in its place.
How do I pause my job?Pausing a job allows you to temporarily remove a job from the live site without deleting it entirely.
Simply click on Live in the Job Status column next to the job you want to pause.
To pause multiple jobs, tick the box beside each job you want to pause and click on the Pause/Unpause button at the bottom of the page.
You can use the same process to reactivate paused jobs.
Please note that pausing your job for any length of time does not allow you to extend your job beyond the expiry date for the same period or entitle you to be compensated for the time you have not used.
Can I access expired jobs?Choose Jobs expired from the Show drop-down on the Manage jobs page.
You can republish expired jobs by selecting the job you want to republish and clicking the Republish button.
What do I do if I want to advertise more jobs?You can use your account to advertise as many jobs as you wish. Simply login to your account and select Post job from the drop-down menu. For more information on job posting, have a look at How to construct a great job ad or download our User Guide.
How long will my job stay on the site?Once you post your job, it will remain live for one calendar month. We recommend you refresh your vacancy from time to time to prevent it from appearing too far down in the candidates list of search results.
Once I have posted my vacancy can I then search for potential candidates?
Yes.
Dealing with responses - Can you guarantee a response rate?
As with any job advertisement, we cannot guarantee a response, but there is a variety of methods you can employ to ensure your job advertisement stands out in the crowd! Read How to construct a great job ad for some tips on how to maximise responses to your vacancies.
How soon will I get a response?Your job can be seen by candidates as soon as you post it online and alerts will be emailed to matching candidates in our database, which means you can start receiving applications immediately. However, it depends on who is available and looking for the type of role you are advertising.
How are my responses handled?You will receive all your applications via email direct from the individual. Once the candidate clicks on Apply, they simply fill in their email address, attach a CV and cover note and their response will be emailed direct to your inbox. Their application will also be stored in your account for 30 days under Manage responses so that if you ever have any problems with your email, your recruitment campaign won't be affected.
I initially had a good response to my job, but now I'm receiving very few applications. What can I do?Firstly, check that there are not any problems with the email address your job responses are being sent to. If this is working, your job may need to be refreshed.
Jobs which have been live for more than 7 days will no longer appear at the top of candidates search results as newer jobs will appear higher than older jobs (depending on the keywords a candidate selects).
Jobs which have been posted for more than 7 days can be refreshed which means that they are given a new posted date, can appear higher up a candidates list of search results and are sent to candidates who have job alerts set up if the job matches the criteria the candidate has selected. Only jobs older than 7 days can be refreshed.
Security If I can’t login, what can I do?Double check that you are using the correct pin and password.
If you have forgotten your login details click Forgotten your pin/password? and enter the email address you originally registered in the appropriate field.You should receive an email with your login details.

How do I change my password?- Go to My Account in the top navigation bar.
- Select Change Password from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your old password in the required field, and your new password in the two fields below.
- Click on update at the bottom of the page to save changes.
Information for candidates
How do I register on Selfrecruit?- Click on Job seekers on the menu bar.
- Complete your name, email and chosen password on the form, click register.
- You will receive an email confirming your registration and login details.
- You will be taken to a page where you can complete all your details, load your CV and complete your key criteria regarding salary, location, etc..
- Once you have saved this information you will be able to start searching for the jobs you want.
No, candidates register completely free of charge.
How do I load my CV onto Selfrecruit?As part of your registration process you will be asked to load your CV. Please ensure that it is up-to-date and in a suitable format (the acceptable file types are shown under the browser window).
- Click on browse; this will take you to your ‘my documents’ window.
- Select the folder where your CV is saved and open it.
- Click on the CV and click insert.
Your CV will automatically be loaded onto the Selfrecruit site when you save all the details on this page.
Can employers see all my personal details?The employers will have access to your CV when they accept your application for the job they are advertising and will need to see your contact details in order to invite you for an interview.
Do I search for the job I want or does the employer search for candidates?Both! You can use the search facility to find jobs that match any key words that you choose. However, employers can also search for potential candidates the same way.
How do I search for the job I want?- Click on advanced search
- Complete the form – the more information you provide the better match you will make.
- Click save to save this search so you can do it again after a few days (in case more suitable vacancies are posted.
- Click search to generate a list of possible job options.
Click on save when you have completed the search form. You can save up to five searches with different criteria.
How will I know when new jobs are posted?If a new job is posted with any of the key words you have identified in your saved searches, you will receive an email alerting you.
