Selfrecruit is the original and leading job board specifically for employers ONLY to advertise their jobs direct to interested individuals. The site was launched by a group of employers who wanted to find the best possible candidates fast without the delays and costs of press advertising or recruitment  fees. Most agencies that they dealt with were incompetent, rarely got it right. Media ads weren’t getting the right candidates and head hunters were very expensive and took far too long. It seemed that short lists were compiled from "buzz words" only of not the right people, contracted staff cost the earth and media advertising never really provides enough cost-effective space to give the details needed.

Research established that, with enough information, potential candidates were likely to only select those roles that they felt they matched well (unlike the small amount of information a media ad allows).
